What type of artist’s book can I donate?
ABC@PM collects artists’ books in all media, editioned and one-of-a-kind, on all variety of subject matter. ABC@PM is particularly interested in books in which the structure and actions of reading are integral to the content and the ideas within.
Why types of publications are not considered?
ABC@PM does not actively collect zines, conventional catalogs of artworks, or artist monographs.
How do I submit my artist book to be considered for the collection?
To submit an artist’s book for review, the physical artist’s book must be mailed to the following address: The Artist’s Book Collection at Paper Machine, 6330 St. Claude Ave, New Orleans, LA 70117. The submission form must be completed online and a printed copy of the submission form must be enclosed with the donation.
Can I drop off my artist book at Paper Machine or Antenna?
No. Due to the many programs and people involved at Paper Machine and Antenna, we can not accept artist’s book donations that are dropped off in person. Any artist’s book dropped off in person at Paper Machine or Antenna will not be reviewed.
How are donated artists books selected?
The principal organizers of ABC@PM review donated artists books twice a year, in March and September. The organizers of ABC@PM evaluate potential acquisitions on the basis of the mission of the collection, existing books already housed in the collection, diversity of publications in the field, physical management and shelf space
When will ABC@PM notify me if my book is selected?
ABC@PM will e-mail you by April 30 or October 30 to notify you whether your artist’s book was accepted or not.
What happens if my book is selected?
If your artist’s book is accepted for acquisition into the collection, you will receive an e-mail notification to request additional information.
What happens if my book is not selected?
If your artist’s book is not accepted for acquisition into the collection, you will receive an e-mail notification. Individuals have 30 days from the e-mail notification to pick up rejected submissions. ABC@PM does not offer return service for unsolicited donations. In the event that you do not pick up your submission, the book may be used for programs, donated to Paper Marchine’s resource library, donated to another arts or educational institution, or disposed of.
